Google Nest Hub
In 2018, Google released the first time ever Google Smart Display which is called the Nest Hub. The nest hub comes in two colors, Chalk and Charcoal which are white and black. It comes in a 10-inch display and has a speaker on the back of the device. The Nest Hub does not have a camera unlike the larger version, the Nest Hub Max has a camera that uses it for Google Duo video calling and acts as a Nest Camera. It also does not have internet browsing and you can't install apps in it, it only comes with its built-in apps. On the top of the Nest Hub, you have an Ambient EQ sensor which allows the device screen to adjust the brightness level according to the lighting conditions around the room and two far-field microphones so it can hear you from wherever you are. On the back, you have a mute switch for privacy and a volume up-down button on the side. Google Nest Hub fits naturally in any room at home. With Ambient EQ, Hub adjusts to match the colors and lighting in its environment, so photos on Hub seamlessly blend in with your home decor.
Talking about hearing you, the main feature of the Nest Hub is that it has the Google Assistant, the voice assistant from Google that is very powerful. You can ask Google the weather, call someone, add reminders, play games, control smart home devices, play music, and more actions.
Next, what can you do in it? The Google Nest Hub provides help from anywhere in a room, showing your best photos from Google Photos, control smart home devices like lights, thermostats and view your smart cameras.
For entertainment, you can play videos from YouTube and Netflix by using your voice, play music from YouTube music or Spotify, get the latest news from Google news and relax down with Google Podcast. You can also use your voice to control like next episode, volume up, and skip forward.
On the Nest Hub, you can also call your household members by using Google Duo, unfortunately, the device does not have a camera so you can't do video calls but only audio calls. You can also broadcast and call another Google home/nest speaker in your house which I always love this feature because it is so convenient for me.
There is one tab for the family which helps to connect your family like creating a family bell to arrange schedules in order, leaving a family note so your family never forgets to buy the cereal for breakfast tomorrow and location sharing to view where your family members are.
The last tab, which is called discover gets random actions to ask Google example finding the animal of the day or setting a timer. There are also nice animations and drawing designed by Google which makes me happy and pleased.
To set up and control settings on the Nest Hub, you can do it on the Google Home app, like changing the volume, photo frame, and more.
